Jackson Hole Winter Has Something For Everyone (Not JUST Skiers)!
Jackson Hole winter activities are famous! Many people think of winter when they think of Jackson Hole. The valley usually gets lots and lots of snow. Why do you think those summer wildflowers are so pretty and those summer white water trips are so exciting? Winter activities here will please the athletic adventurer as well as the spectator. Sure, the skiing is renowned, and incredibly varied, but it's only part of the picture here in winter. There are so many things to do here in winter that you don't have to be a skier or boarder to have a fun-filled time. The list of activities is long. And what a list! Heli-skiing for fresh tracks awaits the expert and affluent (or poor but determined) powderhound. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are good just about anywhere, but especially on Grand Teton National Park's nicely maintained trails. Snowmobiles are popular up on Togwotee Pass, and can take you to Granite Hot Springs for a nice thermal soak. You can access nearby Yellowstone National Park in winter via snowmobile or snow coach (if time allows, stay overnight at Old Faithful and ski tour around the geyser basins). Dog people may enjoy dog sledding - sitting back and letting the working breeds pull them through the snowy fields. Ice skating,
rides onto the elk refuge
in a horse-drawn sleigh, the cutter races (what is that you may ask??) round out the delicious winter menu. See for yourself what all the fuss is about. Rocky Mountain snow is the best on the planet!
