Jackson Hole wildlife viewing is a favorite past-time in the area. You can always tell there's a sighting by the halt in traffic along roads in both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

The stars of this road show are the largest animals. Bears, both black bears and
grizzly bears,
are sure to cause a traffic jam. Large ungulates, such as moose and elk, are common here. Mule deer are plentiful too. Bison herds are quite accessible to those who like to view from the car. Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep can be seen if you know where to look on rocky hillsides. Wolves are now residents of the area again, after a long absence. Pronghorn antelope dot the grasslands, which they share with the coyote. Mountain lions are predators that are seldom seen.
Look to the skies to find bald eagles, golden eagles and osprey. Smaller critters to watch for include porcupine, beaver, the trumpeter swan...and the extremely elusive jackalope. The lakes, rivers and streams are full of fish (many varieties of trout included). You can't see them but rest assured they are there.
Teton National Park Headquarters in Moose has an informative display on local wildlife, where you can actually touch pelts and see what they feel like. Creepy, but effective and interesting! Some of us have reclined on a bear-skin rug in our day, as inappropriate as that may be, but who among us has felt a moose???
